My jogging run this morning took me through Meridian Park and I was horrified to see about 6 or 8 people there letting their dogs run free without a leash. I truly feel that it would be a travesty for Meridian to become a doggie park. As I said, most of the dogs were unleashed. Even if the owners are cleaning up the poop, the fact is that people use that lawn to play sports on or just lay out in the sun.
I'm just trying to bring awareness to the issue. Few things annoy me more than self-righteous dog owners who thing that any open space with some grass constitutes a doggie park for their canines to foul.
I'm not sure if this blog covers Meridian Hill Park issues (it should, since it's only 2 - 3 blocks from 14th St).
