ANC2f meeting this Wednesday--Ghana Cafe protest continues

This month's ANC2f meeting will take place on Wednesday, February 2 at 7 PM at the Luther Place Memorial Church (NOT the usual ANC2f meeting location). The full agenda can be found below.

It's a rather quiet meeting agenda (pending any last-minute agenda items), but one thing worth mentioning is the unresolved protest against 14th Street restaurant Ghana Cafe and their plans for an outdoor summer garden. By some accounts, negotiations with owner Tony Opare have not gone particularly smoothly. Wednesday night's meeting promises an update on the status of the summer garden protest.

Also on the agenda is an update from the Arts Overlay Committee (to discuss the new banners that have recently been hung throughout the neighborhood) as well as a scintillating discussion about trash pickup in the alleyway between CVS, Logan Hardware and the Whole Foods.

I found the condescending tone of this post inappropriate for a blog of this stature. I'm sure those residents who lives are disrupted every morning by the trucks emptying the stores dumpsters will find the conversation more than "scintillating."

Also, what's the deal with Ghana Cafe's patio request? I don't think I've seen anything about it on this and was unaware of any move on their part. Please enlighten.

I do like the blog. It provides useful 411.

convex,
Living with dumpsters and disruptive noises is part of the benefit of living so close to these kind of ammenities. We can't just want to live in a rural park and bitch about not having any retail

anon, that's really a ridiculous comment. If you woke up at 5am every day to dumpsters out your window I am sure you wouldn't have such a laissez faire attitude. You can leave near a cvs and still have them get their garbage dumped at a more reasonable hour.

Waking up at 4 in the morning to the sound of dump trucks, cursing drivers, fights and observing the massive amounts of trash and rats in the alley isn't fun. A boy you just haven't lived until you've lain on the floor because two drunks are outside waving guns around. Whoopee. I've never been to the Ghana Cafe but I have lived in the neighborhood for 20 years and I really can do without a retail establishment that is not a good neighbor.

The owner of Ghana cafe is SUCH an asshole. He deserves to be thwarted at every turn.
