Thank You, Leonard Downie Jr.

The current Washington Post vice president has a great column today discussing how everyone, it seems, loves to hate on DC but that the truth is we all, you know, kinda love it. Thanks for the refreshing breath of pro-DC air, Leonard.

sure, it was nominally "pro dc", but really, i thought the article was a bunch of pablum.

i mean, in the middle of an article talking about how great DC is, he goes off and mentions how great silver spring and clarendon are. no offense to our friends in the 'burbs, but they ain't DC.

he never really gets specific either. i really think that his idea of what's great about the "new" DC is what he reads in his paper. it's not because he actually gets out to see the entire city...

Mr. IMGoph, I have visited my brother in D.C. many times. He and his wife Janice really find pleasure in giving us a tour of a different part of the District every time we visit. If you knew him you would know how much he loves Washington D.C.. Also, if you knew him, you would know he would not speak of something good or bad that is not true to him.

mr. downie: that's awesome. i'm glad your brother has shown you around the district, and i'm glad that he loves DC. my points still stand, though, that he spent time talking about places that aren't in DC. it would be like me writing about how much i love NYC and then talking about the great things in jersey city and white plains halfway through that article.
