We came from way out west (the other Washington)."

Brian, sorry for the delinquent follow-up. Don't know if you'll get this, but my one piece of advice is to walk everywhere. You can appreciate the architectural details in the buildings, the diversity of retail, and the preponderance of restaurant and bar options available. It may seem obvious to recommend walking through a very walkable neighborhood, but you'd be surprised at the number of people I encounter who haven't noticed/heard of certain establishments because they're "always in their car".

And welcome to the 'hood! Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.Mr. Other Upper NWhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12536367497290075887noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2095284393772305956.post-36297934966355490272008-10-20T13:25:00.000-04:002008-10-20T13:25:00.000-04:00If I were making $500K and uber-affluent, I would ...If I were making $500K and uber-affluent, I would probably pick a different neighborhood deeper in NW, like Georgetown. For example, the 1400 Block of R, where this conversation was overheard, is definitely a rowdy bunch. Maybe 14th and P is what they meant?

But for someone who can't afford the West End, and prefers a neighbor with a bit more character--and the occasional bodega--Logan is great.

I, for one, don't make six figures, and yet my rent is well within reason--and I have only one roommate. This is not a neighborhood that is out of reach for all but the wealthy.bad apologieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03573558776170586402noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2095284393772305956.post-16380836992430922862008-10-17T20:56:00.000-04:002008-10-17T20:56:00.000-04:00It's no Trenton. It's no Trenton.lacochran's evil twinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00830374402474261699noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2095284393772305956.post-58017435861119057222008-10-16T17:40:00.000-04:002008-10-16T17:40:00.000-04:00Hm. I can't see how you'd need half a mil to love this neighborhood, but then I'm sure lifestyle plays a part.

My wife and I are new Loganites and we're wondering: what's the one best bit of advice for someone new to this neighborhood? I could never afford my house today (I purchased in 1996) on my non-profit salary.Herbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14626002998992467374noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2095284393772305956.post-46266881884767174592008-10-12T13:36:00.000-04:002008-10-12T13:36:00.000-04:00well we have a combined income of about $175K, and...well we have a combined income of about $175K, and it's certainly not bad. it's better than chinatown, where we got called faggots for walking up the street holding hands on the way to the cinema.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2095284393772305956.post-40104178118102213882008-10-12T08:04:00.000-04:002008-10-12T08:04:00.000-04:00Well...I think Logan Cirle can be paradise with $3...Well...I think Logan Cirle can be paradise with $300K a year. :) This zip code isnt cheap but a great place to live.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
